Christmas is a time for togetherness but many years ago I thought I was going to see a child perish.
This year for a Christmas lunch or dinner please keep this tale in mind, it may save your life, or someone close to you.
After spending hours slaving over an old wood stove my Mum presented a monster lunch for us all.
We kids were on the small kids' table and ready to tuck in when a blow in, I still can't recall who he was or how he fitted into the picture, asked for.............tomato sauce.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
You know how the air can be completely sucked out of the room and nobody knows whether to speak or not? That's what happened.
Mother did not relent and the child was never seen at our table again, probably for his own good I reckon.
So when you're ready for food that someone has lovingly prepared this season remember how close to death you can be if you ask for.....tomato sauce.
