WA Not As Engaged In Social Media

Some people refer to Western Australia, WA, as Wait Awhile and whether that applies to some new research I'm not sure.

Compared to other areas in Australia WA is apparently saying "meh" to the inetrnet and social media and even hardware.

According to the research figures we in the west use the internet more than 5 times a day (56%) compared to 60% nationally, only 29% use social media sites daily compared to 34% nationally and 1 in 10 in WA use social media "a few times a week"

Furthermore in Western Australia we spend on an average of just 13 minutes on Facebook each visit (16% nationwide) and we're the fastest tweeters in the nation, 5 minutes a time.

Most worrying is that 36% of people believe they spend too much time on social media and 24% of 18 to 29 year olds admit they become anxious if they can't update social media regularly.

FOMO or fear of missing out is real!

Where does it all end, who knows, if the trend continues we could be in peril in western society.

How about you, how much time do you spend on social media sites?

By the way, I am fully aware of the irony of having this on facebook.
