It's been over a year since the passing of the great David Bowie and now there's a push to get a huge statue in his honour.

Near his birthplace of Brixton, there's hope of getting a 9-metre high lightning bolt, referencing the Aladdin Sane album.

The group organising it, This Ain't Rock 'n' Roll, are hoping to raise close to £1 million ($AU1.6 million) to get the project off the ground, and they only have 28 days to do it.

On their crowdfunding page, they say that it will be "a poignant reminder that life does exist beyond the everyday."

You can help them out by donating to the cause here.
