Former Australian international Greg Blewett thinks Steve Smith should step down for captaining Australia's Twenty20 side.

Smith currently captains all three of Australia's international sides - Test, One Day and T20 - and speaking on Triple M Adelaide's Dead Set Legends, Blewett was asked by cohost Andrew Jarman whether Smith should step down from the captaincy of the One Day side, given Australia's poor form against England in the 50 over game this summer.

"No (he shouldn't)," Blewett said.

"(But) I think we should have a new captain, which I think they're angling towards with David Warner in T20's.

"But I'd leave Smithy in charge of Test's and 50 over cricket."
