Cricketer John Hastings has told Triple M's Dead Set Legends he is "probably" heading towards retirement as he battles a health condition that's stopped him bowling.

HASTINGS OPENS UP:

Hastings is battling a health condition that first surfaced last summer during the Big Bash, which has seen him cough up blood.

The 33-year-old - who co-hosted Dead Set Legends on Triple M Melbourne with Jay Clark - said it was "such a weird thing".

"It hasn't been ideal over the last five or six months, there's lots of testing," he said.

He conceded the mystery condition would "probably" see him wrap up his career, but said there were "no regrets" with what he's achieved in the game.

"I'll take that as a big plus and I'll probably move on after this year," he said.

"I've thought about [retirement] a lot over the last few months.

"If this is the end, then I'm happy with what I've done and what I've achieved in the game and all the mates that I've pulled out of it. I've been to some of the greatest places in the world

"I've had a really good career. No regrets."

Hastings played one Test, 29 ODIs and nine Twenty20 internationals for Australia, taking the most ODI wickets by any pace bowler in the world in 2016 with 29.
