Sydney veteran Heath Grundy has told Triple M "you've got to push the limits sometimes" in terms of conceding free kicks, after Alastair Clarkson suggested the Swans defenders were "getting away with blue murder".

LISTEN TO GRUNDY:

Clarkson suggested after Hawthorn's eight-point loss to Sydney that the Swans backline was favoured by the "swings and roundabouts" of umpiring.

"Sydney block better than any other team in the competition in their back end for (Dane) Rampe and (Heath) Grundy to take those marks," he said post-match.

"They’re very sophisticated with the way, but at different stages they’re getting away with blue murder too."

Grundy told Triple M's Dead Set Legends said his defenders try to play within the rules, but you have to push the limits to try and win the contest.

"We defended as hard as we can, and obviously try and play as much as we can within the rules," he told Triple M.
