This morning, Ewan spoke to Acting Regional Commander for the CFS, Sam Quigley about fire danger season and what we can do to prepare.

It's time to be more vigilant and make sure you have a plan in place if things escalate - making sure you discuss plans with family members.

Overall, "we're not looking at an above average, we're looking for a normal year, but that doesn't mean we should be complacent," Mr Quigley said.

Be warned: locals are not allowed to light a wood fire in parks during the period. All open fires, liquid fuel and gas stoves are banned in all parks on Total Fire Ban Days.
