Some bad news for the SEABL and Ewan Grant was able to dig up what's been going on.

Tom Kosch from the Mt Gambier Pioneers explained what the future of SEABL looks like, saying:

"There have been questions raised about what the future of Basketball Australia management would look like and in a meeting on Saturday, all of the clubs were blindsided by a statement from the Basketball Australia CEO about the future of SEABL", he said.

"At this point in time, Basketball Australia's position on it is after 2019, SEABL will be no longer and other opportunities for state leagues exist.

"At the moment, a lot of clubs outside the metropolitan area are left in a bit of limbo."

The distance and the logistics would prove tough for a Limestone Coast team to continue under the proposed circumstances.

"We do travel some serious distances. Our options at the moment would be looking at the premier league in Adelaide or possibly the Victorian competition.

"At this stage, I'm sure there are options for a competition for the Pioneers to be a part of past 2019. We'll be doing everything we can to make sure there is an option for us."
