Is social media getting too involved in our personal lives?

On the weekend I went for breakfast at a local café when I looked across at the booth near me.  Six people were sitting waiting for their breakfast, with five of the six people looking down on their phones, not even speaking to each other at the table.  The single female not looking at her phone looked lonely as she stared into the distance.

Aside from social media making us very unsocial, it is frightening just how easily it allows you to be tracked without you even realizing!

As a user of Snapchat, I've watched it evolve, from the app that sent one off photos, letting you know when they took a screenshot of them.  Then you could start chatting on it to your friends, but it's latest feature is something I learnt about from my teenage niece.

Over the Christmas holidays, my niece was telling me about the new, kind of creepy feature - Snap Maps.

You may or may not know, but there is now a feature with Snapchat where you can actually track down your friends to the exact street they are on anywhere in the world.

Now, I have no idea how long the feature has been available, but I am still not entirely sure how I feel about it!

Simply by pinching the screen together it will bring up a thing called ‘Snap Map’.

The map will show little people, if you click on them, it will tell you who they are, and where they are.

No longer will you be able to say you are somewhere you’re not!

The good news, the feature can be switched off, or put in 'ghost mode' so no one will be able to track you.

They used to say that Big Brother was watching, but now it seems that anyone could be!
