Darren Lehmann is bullish about Australia's batting chances against India.

The former Australian cricket coach, Darren Lehmann spoke to Roo and Ditts on Triple M Adelaide this morning ahead of the summer's first Test Match against India next week.

Despite calls for the match fixing bans to be lifted on Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft; those three will not be taking part in the international summer of cricket.

Lehmann admitted that their absence, in particular Smith and Warner, left a large hole in the Aussies batting line-up.

"Well, we are missing two of the best five batsmen in the world," Lehmann said.

"So you're gonna struggle to find those runs.

"The challenge for the group is to find those runs from somewhere."

Although missing Smith and Warner from the line-up, Lehman was bullish about the Australian team's chances at making runs on their home decks.

"I think we'll bat well at home," Lehmann said.

"We know the pitches well and I expect us to bat better than we have over the next six months at home."

The first Test against India starts next Thursday at Adelaide Oval.
