A Disneyland To Open Up In Adelaide?

How good would this be?

This morning Amanda Blair joined Roo & Ditts for Breakfast to discuss a possible revamp for the existing Holden factory site in Elizabeth.

Amanda has become an advocate for putting a HUGE theme park attraction there, none other than Disneyland.

Apparently this isn’t just her idea though, other ideas similar to this have been brought to the table before. It would increase tourism to our great city and create a whole heap of new jobs, in place of those lost at Holden.

It's an interesting concept, could Adelaide be the right place for the newest addition to the Disneyland family?

Take a listen here:

According to a report in The Advertiser:

“The industry and terrain is similar to Orange County (the original Disneyland in California) and the space is massive,” Ms Blair said. “There are a lot of similarities between Elizabeth and Orange County. Orange County was nothing until Walt Disney and the vision he brought.”

Indeed Disney’s California park, at 34 hectares, is far smaller than its Elizabeth prospect although dwarfed by plans for Disney’s most recent global offering in Shanghai and its 388 hectare target.

The community focused Elizabeth, said Ms Blair who has been counselling Holden workers pre retrenchment, needs the uplift Disney would drive.

Construction workers, retail, admin, security, arts, multi skilled levels of job could follow she said.

“I think SA is the most beautiful state but it would be fantastic if it had an anchor. Queensland has ‘the Worlds’ but this would be a tourism statement for the Barossa and Clare Valley. They are crying out for something in the northern suburbs, this ticks all the boxes. Nothing puts money in the till like Disney.”
