Port Adelaide's season finished less than a week ago after a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles after the final siren of extra time, but according to Triple M's Chris Dittmar, Port fans' heartbreak could only just be starting.
Speaking on his breakfast show on Triple M Adelaide this morning, Ditts said he had strong mail that Power coach Ken Hinkley could very likely be on his way out of the club to take up the reins at Gold Coast.
“Ken Hinkley, now he’s been linked with the Gold Coast for a week or two,” Ditts confirmed to Triple M.
“Now I’m led to believe that there is now a firm five-year-offer on the table.
“This is what I’ve been told by someone at the club.
“He’s been given this offer and he’s now contemplating his future.”
Hinkley has been courted by the Suns for several weeks, and Ditts now thinks that with a firm five-year contract on the table, the lure of financial and job security might get Hinkley over the line at Gold Coast.
“I think there is a big chance," he told Mark Riccuito.
“It’s a lot closer than what it was a week ago.
"I think it is (better than a 50-50 chance)."
If Hinkley does decide to take the option of financial and job security and head to the Gold Coast, Ditts believes the Power will and should target former Port midfielder Josh Francou to replace him as head coach.
