Don Pyke has told Triple M the Crows are prepared to keep Mitch McGovern if a suitable deal can't be reached.

PYKE JOINS ROO & DITTS:

McGovern requested a trade on Tuesday, with the 23-year-old seeking to leave the Crows one year into his three-year deal.

Pyke joined Triple M's Roos and Ditts on Friday and said it was disappointing McGovern wanted a trade, but the club was prepared to keep him if a trade couldn't be reached.

"It's a decision he's made where he feels like it's not the best place for him to play footy, which again is disappointing," he told Triple M Adelaide.

"We'll try and get the best we can for Mitch, and if we can't get a good enough deal, then he'll remain an Adelaide player next year."

Pyke said there were a few reasons why McGovern wanted out.

"There's a number of reasons and factors...some of those are historical, some of those are environmental. It's his personal view," he said,

"We'll continue to work with Mitch, and clearly if we can't get a deal done, we'll have to work through some of those issues."
