One of the biggest contract discussion in the league is that of Port Adelaide utility Jackson Trengove, and he spoke on the situation this morning on Triple M Adelaide.

Trengove is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Power, and speculation is rife that he is unhappy at the Power following his axing from his side to face Collingwood last Sunday.

However, joining Roo and Ditts this morning, Trengove stopped-dead any thoughts that his axing from the Power side had anything to do with his contract negotiations.

“I wouldn’t have thought so,” Trengove speculated, “that’d be a bit silly with the way football operates now days with blokes waiting the end of the season to sign on.”

When posed the question as to where exactly his contract situation is at, Trengove revealed that his focus was solely on getting back into the Power side and he’ll worry about his contract at season’s end.

“Probably the end of the year,” Trengove revealed.

“I’ve just got to concentrate on getting back into the side.

“It’s never easy getting dropped and I’ve been lucky enough and fortunate enough that this is the first time it’s happened in my career.”

Trengove will become a restricted a free agent after the current season, meaning the Power can match any rival offer from an opposition club.
