The story of the week, and probably the year, was the weird post-game encounter between Josh Jenkins and Harry Taylor, with the Geelong swingman shaking JJ’s hand with slice of ham in his palm.

Much speculation around the weird incident still remains, and JJ walked in off the street into the Triple M studios in Adelaide to try and provide some clarity on the situation by finally telling his side of the story.

“I’m more famous for a piece of ham than I am for football at the moment,” Jenkins told Roo and Ditts.

“I was a very, very strange scenario…to say the absolute least.

“I saw him rolling something up just as we sort of walked towards each other, and I thought it was just his finger tape.

“And he sort of reached out, and I knew he had it in his hand.

“And we separated and I had some shaved deli ham in my hand.

“We didn’t speak.

“I was honestly, and I am still am as you can tell, dumfounded. I had no idea what was going on.”

Although still highly confused by the incident, Jenkins did reveal the rumour he had heard as to who was behind the ‘hamshake’.

“I think Danger (Patrick Dangerfield) sort of threw it up to him at lunch the day of the game,” Jenkins suggested, “and said ‘I think it would be funny if you give him a piece of ham’.”
