The 2017 AFL season still hasn't finished, and the Crows are still vying for their first flag since 1998; but that hasn't stopped trade rumours circulating around Adelaide key defender Jake Lever.

Lever is hotly tipped to return to his home state of Victoria, with the Melbourne Football Club said to be leading the chase.

Yesterday, at the launch of NAB Trade Radio, Demons' gun midfielder/forward Christian Petracca's name was thrown up as a potential trade bait, along with teammate Clayton Oliver.

Speaking on his Triple M Adelaide breakfast show, Crows' board member Mark Ricciuto was asked by co-host Chris Dittmar whether Adelaide had asked the Demons for Petracca in return for Lever.

"That’s surprising news," Roo said.

"I couldn’t imagine Petracca would want to leave Melbourne - he still lives with his mum and dad.

“I could not see Petracca leaving Melbourne.

“Even if the speculation of yours was right, I’d think you’d find his manager knocked it on the head publicly."

When asked whether Oliver had also been a trade target for the Crows, Ricciuto was as equally diplomatic.

“He’s probably going to win their best and fairest - why would he leave?" Roo asked.
