The Adelaide Crows have come under fire from some past players within the media following their dramatic loss in the Showdown on Saturday night.

Two goals in a minute saw the Crows wrestle back the lead from the Power before a Steven Motlop goal broke Adelaide hearts and gave Port Adelaide a memorable victory over their fierce rivals.

Several former Crows players were critical of Adelaide's defensive structure in that final stoppage of the game, but former Crows' Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto said on Triple M Adelaide this morning that that criticism is unfair and the past players firing shots at their former club "have no idea" what they're talking about.

"There's so much luck involved in that," Ricciuto said.

"When they kicked the ball forward, if it bounced to a Crows player they would have got it.

"If the ball went sideways the Crows would have got it.

"When it went back and Douglas and McGovern knocked each other out - if one of them had have marked it it would have been done.

"If Atkins had have tackled instead of getting around Motlop, they would have got it.

"There's a fine line between that. It's just luck.

"The past players (criticising Adelaide) really have no idea."
