The 2017 AFL Season kicked off with round one over the weekend and Ditts called it “an incredible weekend of footy.”

Port Adelaide V Sydney Swans

Port took out their first match of the year against the Swans with a comfy 28-point win at the SCG.

Ditts says from the opening bounce Port “were having a go, it’s something we haven’t seen for a couple of years where they just played on at all costs.”

Roo: “they are a better side then what they’ve been performing. They’ve got bucket loads of talent there, there’s no doubt about it. They just haven’t been able to get it right."

Roo reckons if they fix what’s been going wrong, Port will go climb the ladder like they did two years ago.

Adelaide Crows V GWS Giants

The Crows opened the season with a home round win at Adelaide Oval against GWS, with the Crows taking a huge win of 56-points.

Roo doesn’t think GWS were playing at their best, but he reckons the Crows played well and they could have won by more “the last few quarters, they absolutely flogged them [GWS].”

Although Tex was a late scratch with a hamstring injury, Roo says Crows “dominated possession” and reckons the younger players are stepping up.

AFLW Grand Final

The inaugural AFL Women’s Grand Final saw the Crows claim their first premiership against the Lions with a win of 4. 11 (35) to 4. 5 (29).

Roo reckons it was a great game to watch and it was unbelievable that “the Crows Girls game from Metricon Stadium rated higher than the Port V Sydney game.”

Erin Phillips won Best on Ground and Ditts congratulated her, calling her a “champion winning the medal”.
