Reaction To The Big News West Coast Will Get Perth Stadium First

The round 1 fixtures for next year’s AFL season have been released and it’s official. West Coast will open up the new Perth Stadium with a blockbuster against traditional rivals the Sydney Swans.

There was a lot of debate in #Perth as who “deserves” the opening round, despite the fact that, technically, it’s West Coast’s turn.

Our Dead Set Legend, Lachy Reid, joined Clairsy, Matt and Kymba this morning to discuss and he thinks it’s the right call.

Fremantle fans shouldn’t despair, as it’s rumoured that in round 2, they’ll host one of the biggest clubs in Australia, Essendon, in the first night game of the AFL season at the new stadium. Considering what we’ve seen in terms of the light show of late, that’s pretty exciting news.

Also, Freo fans, it appears that you’ll get one more game than West Coast next year, as Gold Coast will reportedly play their ‘home’ game over here against the Dockers due to the Commonwealth Games.
