Actor Scott Eastwood joined Marto, Robin and the Moonman on this morning's The Big Breakfast to talk about his new movie, Pacific Rim Uprising.

But while a lot of the new blockbuster was filmed in Queensland, Eastwood revealed that his relationship with Australia goes back a lot further than that.

"It wasn't my first date," he said. "I lived in the Goldie when I was in my early 20s.

"I came initially for Snapper [Rock], I came for the Superbank. I fell in love with Australia really. The best thing about Aussie surfies is they're all really friendly and they have good energy."

And of course Marto couldn't let the Invictus star go without bringing up the topic of rugby, mentioning that he was good mates with Joel Stranksy.

"I did get to meet him," Eastwood said. "I played Joel Stranksy! Very cool that you're friends with him.

"I played a little rugby in high school so I already knew the game and loved the game."

You can see Pacific Rim Uprising in cinemas from March 22, but for the meantime, have a listen to Scott's full chat with the guys below:
