Plenty of speculation ran wild over the weekend that Johnathan Thurston's 2017 NRL season was over, finally today those whispers have been shut down.

The Cowboys have released a statement on JT's shoulder injury, and they seem to be in good spirits.

"The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys can today confirm that co-captain Johnathan Thurston sustained a shoulder injury during Friday night’s Anzac Test.

The injury does not require surgery, and it is not season-ending. Thurston will continue to be monitored and treated by the club’s medical team and High Performance Unit.

The club will be making no further comment at this stage."

We wish JT all the best with the rest of the season.
