Johnathan Thurston’s 300th game has been put on hold again after the superstar halfback was ruled out of any more Rugby League games in 2017.

Thurston picked up the shoulder injury whilst leading Queensland to a memorable come-from-behind victory again the Blues in Sydney on Wednesday night, and will now undergo surgery.

Kyle Laybutt is expected to get a call up after initially being named in an extended bench.

Although the severity of the injury has not yet been released, it is understood Thurston may miss more than just one game.

Saturdays game was not only meant to be JT’s 300th NRL game, but he was meant to become the most capped Cowboys player overtaking Matt Bowen.

Michael Morgan, Coen Hess, and Gavin Cooper are all expected to back up after Wednesday night’s game with all only coming out with a few bumps and bruises.

Thurston isn’t the only person that will be missing this week due to Origin with Storm stars Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Bill Slater and Will Chambers all ruled out. Boyd Cordner, Brett Morris, and Darius Boyd have also been ruled out for their respective sides.

The Panthers are coming off a last gasp win against the Raiders in round 14 but will be fresh to go after having the bye last week.

A win for the Cowboys could potentially shoot them in to the top 4 but a loss will see them drop to 8th.

The Cowboys Call Team will have all the action from 2:30!
