Speaking on Triple M's Grill Team, Matty Johns has declared Cameron Smith as the next player deserving of Immortal status.
“I want to pay respect to people like Norm Provan and Ron Coote, but I just can’t go past Cameron Smith,” Matty said. Listen to the full report below.
“In my opinion, he’s the greatest player of all time.
“I don’t know exactly what it is, I don’t know if you have to be retired for a couple of seasons, I’m not exactly sure. I’d love to find out, that may be the case.
“If that isn’t the case, I’d have no problem naming Cameron Smith. In my opinion he’s the greatest player of all time. He’s brilliant.”
So far, of the eight current Immortals, none have been admitted while still playing. However, since Rugby League Week is no longer in circulation, the NRL will now assume total control of the concept and may adjust the rules.
