Linda Reynolds, a rising politician in the Turnbull government, has called for a national debate on introducing mixed gender competitions to professional sport.

The Triple M Grill Team's Matty Johns and Emma Freedman have shot the idea down as ridiculous and labelled the debate a waste of time.

“As much as people don’t like to admit it these days, men and women are physicologically different.” said Matty Johns

"In sports that require fine motor skills, absolutely. But body contact sports, where they are doing everything to make these codes safer, introducing men versus women in these things, I’m sorry, its just dangerous." Said Johns

"Its ludicrous, what a silly idea. Could you imagine me running at Taumalolo? He’d literally kill me” said Emma Freedman

"The AFLW are attracting big crowds, they don’t need to be competing against the men. It just damages it."

Research out of the University of Sydney shows that from 12 years of age are fundamentally physically different in terms of speed, power, coordination and balance.

"If you want equality, having your own individual leagues and one day having the same amount of funding and the same amount of participation and media coverage and prize money. That’s equality. Playing against a bloke in a contact sport isn’t equality it actually creates more division” Emma Freedman said
