Former Collingwood superstar Dane Swan joined the Hot Breakfast this morning to explain how he managed to score a major gig in today's NBA schedule.

The 2011 Brownlow Medallist will be ringing the Philadelphia 76ers ceremonial bell before their matchup against the Chicago Bulls as part of their Australia Day game celebrations.

The Sixers boast a significant Australian contingent, in Melbourne born and raised superstar Ben Simmons and former NBL and Boomers coach Brett Brown.

Philadelphia's love affair with Australia is so strong that they now sell Four N Twenty pies at home games, which is how Swanny scored his role in today's game.

"I posted something for Four N Twenty before I went away last year and they must have liked it," Swan told Triple M's Hot Breakfast.

"They got back in contact with me a month ago and asked if I'd liked to come to Philadelphia and be a part of the Australia Day 76ers game and sit court side.

"And I thought I'd be stupid to pass it up."

Swanny confirmed that the Four N Twenty pies in Philly are the same ones we all enjoy at the footy, and that he in fact had already smashed a couple himself.

"I was in a pie eating contest this morning so I had a few for brekky - so that was a treat," he said.

"They're an Australian icon so why can't they be a Philadelphia icon?"
