Bloody Inspiring!

Today on The Hot Breakfast, Eddie, Darc and Brig spoke to two Aussie mates who are as tough as they come.

Sid James and Kevin Ferguson met nearly three decades ago when they competed against each other in triathlons and marathons. They became firm friends and then one day 24 years back Sid suffered a terrible accident working on his son's bike. That left him quadriplegic and for most that would have been the end of his passion for endurance sport.

But it didn't deter him and - thanks to the help of his great mate Kev - the pair set out to train to compete in this year's Hawaii Iron Man. Sid was to be carried on the kayak, bike and in a special carrier by Kevin so the pair could do the course together.

The story they tell of the challenges they had to overcome to compete is remarkable. And they've suffered a terrible disappointment at the very last minute due to a health complication. But Kevin will still be doing Iron Man, along with thousands more (many of whom are Aussies) next week.

And their story is as inspiring as you'll hear. Here it is in full. Good on you, Sid and Kev.

Triple M's Hot Breakfast is in Hawaii all this week for Hawaii Tourism, Outrigger Resorts and Jetstar.
