International megastar Will Smith showed up in Melbourne over the weekend, taking in the Australian Open and Big Bash while in town.

"Turns out McGuire and Will Smith were gettin' jiggy with it over the weekend," Wil Anderson mentioned - trying to get Ed to explain how the whole thing came to be.

Eddie said that he has a friend in New York who runs a circle of exclusive names and mentioned that Smith was heading to Australia.

"(400) is a membership-based community consisting of innovators, visionaries and pioneers of industry," Eddie read from his email.

"Part of their service is providing high-end tailored vacations for his suite of high-profile clients.

"One of his clients is the American actor Will Smith and he will be visiting Australia - and he's keen to meet the Collingwood boys!"

Unfortunately the Magpies were up on the Gold Coast on a training camp, but Ed was still able to pull some strings.

"After having hundreds of email exchanges... he turns up on the night - and you will not meet a better bloke," Eddie said when Smith turned up to the Melbourne Stars match at the MCG.

"It's like everything in life; the more high-profile, the more successful, the more talented, generally, the better the people are.

"He went to the tennis - he came to the cricket. Turned up on-time. 'What would you like me to do?'

"You know what he did? He wanted to take as many selfies, autographs and everything. He really just wanted to be involved with all the kids around the place.

"He ended up staying. He was scheduled (to leave) but he went up to a box and watched three-quarters of the game.

"He was just a ripper. He's talented, he's funny, he knows it, he gets it and he's just a star."
