Richmond's last-gasp loss on the weekend was devastating for supporters - and now The Hot Breakfast team want to soften some of that pain.

EddieMick and Darce floated a new system of scoring that would take a lot of uncertainty out of the game; but not everyone was sold on it.

Inspired by the last-minute shot at goal from Shai Bolton that was deemed a touched behind upon review, Ed proposed the following:

"I want to take the pain out of things," he said.

"We are overturning umpires decisions from a camera that is two dimensional - that is over 150m away."

"Trying to say that someone’s finger has been bent back from so far away gets a bit ridiculous."

Duke acknowledged that in the case of Bolton's shot on the weekend, it certainly looked like a touched behind - but in general, the doubt remains.

"If the ball goes through - regardless of whether the ball is touched off the boot or bounces off the post - if it goes through the big sticks it’s a goal," Eddie then stated.

"Like every other code - soccer and rugby," agreed Darce.

Mick said that rushed behinds are a bit of a different beast, but he largely agreed with the idea.

"Eventually a Grand Final will be decided by one of these issues and it’s gonna be controversial. This takes the umpire out. It’s clear, empirical evidence."

"It takes all the pain out of it."

The Hot Breakfast took calls with differing opinions on the issue - what are your thoughts?
