Luke Darcy has smashed the ban handed out to West Coast star Nic Naitanui, saying there is "no way" he should be suspended.

LISTEN TO DARCE:

Naitanui was suspended for a week for a dangerous tackle in the back of Port Adelaide midfielder Karl Amon, a decision he is challenging at the tribunal.

Triple M's Hot Breakfast footy reporter Tom Browne joined the show and said, by the book, the match review officer got this one right.

“I’m convinced this sanction is the correct decision,” he said.

Darce didn't agree, believing it goes against how footy should be played.

"Tommy, you’ve drunk the AFL Kool-Aid on this one," he replied.

"Come on, mate. Let’s go back and look at common sense, what we like about the game, what we want the game to be.

"That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, that there is an onus to try and roll the player."
