Triple M’s Jay Clark has reported in the Herald Sun this morning that umpires will crack down on illegal handball tactics this season.

“The Western Bulldogs’ handball tactics emerged as a key plank of their stunning premiership win last season, helping them dominate games from inside stoppages,” Jay reports.

“If you look at it now, I think it puts an asterisk next to their premiership,” Mick Molloy said on Triple M.

“There have been a number of complaints I’d say from opposition teams, it’s been brought too the umpires attention,” he said.

Luke Darcy was quick to defend his team.

“The Bulldog handball (tactic) is just to handball the ball quickly,” Darcy told Mick.

“If it’s a throw it’s a throw if not it’s a handball.”

“This is bigger than deflate gate,” Molloy joked.
