Peter Dutton is standing firm on his belief that Melbourne has a serious issue with African Gangs.

The Home Affairs Minister, who lives in Brisbane, said back in January people here are scared to eat at restaurants because of crime. 

His critics point out the overall crime rate has dropped in Victoria in the past 12 months, as has the proportion of crimes being committed by people under the age of 25.

But he told Triple M''s Hot Breakfast this morning - he's just calling the situation as it is.
