Triple M's Hot Breakfast chief footy reporter Tom Browne says Good Friday footy is "in some doubt" for the 2019 season as the AFL reviews the fixture.

BROWNE'S REPORT:

Good Friday footy was introduced last year with North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs going head to head.

The Saints took the Bulldogs' place this season for the twilight clash at Etihad Stadium.

"The AFL's weighing up all fixture requests at the moment," Browne told Triple M's Hot Breakfast on Thursday.

"There's no guarantee on Good Friday next year. The AFL considering going footy free, no footy on Good Friday, which would really spell the end of it for a period of time.

"One of the AFL's key blockbuster fixture commitments, it's low on their priority at the moment."
