Hot Breakfast chief footy reporter Tom Browne says that Essendon has moved on legendary trainer John “Killer” Kilby.

“I spoke to John “Killer” Kilby yesterday, he’s 82, he’s been the trainer since 1965,” Browne said.

“[He’s an] absolute beauty, was the head trainer in their dual premiership, back to back in the 80s there.

“Essendon has I guess in a sense moved him on, occupational health and safety sort of catching up with some of those situations these days.”

Browne said that Essendon hasn’t left Kilby empty handed, though.

“They’ve given him the tickets and the obligatory car park and the merchandise.

“They’ve looked after him, but a bit of an end of an era there at Essendon.”
