Wayne Carey thinks 2017 is going to be an absolute cracker for footy fans - except for two clubs.

Speaking to Triple M's The Hot Breakfast, the Duck expressed how even he thinks the competition is going to be this season.

“I’m so excited about this year," Carey said.

“Last year was great - we had a team win from 7th for the first time."

Most AFL pundits believe this will be one of the most even competitions in recent memory, with only two sides unable to make the finals according to Carey.

“This is no disrespect, but Brisbane and Carlton you can draw a line through for making the 8.”

“But I honestly believe… every other team has a legitimate chance of playing finals footy.”

Triple M's Eddie McGuire also joined in the chorus of excitement, saying that round 1 is going to be something special.

“Gill’s stacked the deck in Round 1 - he wants to come out of the gates flying," Eddie said.

“It will be the biggest-attended round of football ever. It will be unbelievable.”
