Port Adelaide's Charlie Dixon says Sam Powell-Pepper "did the wrong thing" but has backed him in to knuckle down and force his way back into the team.

LISTEN TO CHARLIE DIXON:

Powell-Pepper was suspended for a week for breaching team rules after vision emerged of him near a nightclub after Port Adelaide's win over Brisbane.

Dixon, a member of the Port Adelaide leadership group who handed down the ban, joined Jars and Louie on Triple M's Rush Hour and said the focus is now on him working himself back into the team.

“He’s a young lad who’s just trying to enjoy himself, probably a bit too much," he said.

“He did the wrong thing, but we’ve moved on.

“He’s copped his ban and (he’ll knuckle down).

The boys had a good laugh about who could replace the young gun in the side, with the three coming to the consensus that Dixon could probably use another tall bloke to help out in the ruck.

“Yeah, I always push the question!" Dixon laughed.
