Triple M's Damian Barrett believes the decision by the tribunal to let Ed and Charlie Curnow escape with fines for umpire contact was "very ordinary".

LISTEN TO DAMO:

The brothers were both separately cited for making contact with an umpire during Carlton's win over Essendon last Saturday.

The duo, along with Gold Coast co-captain Steven May, were both let off after being sent to the tribunal, one week after Tom Hawkins was banned for a match for a similar incident.

The AFL has since appealed the decision against the Curnows.

“I admire the AFL for doing what it did today to appeal it,” Barrett told Jars, KG and Dom Cassisi on Triple M's Rush Hour.

“As it stands right now it’s okay to touch an umpire under certain circumstances.”
