Former Australian cricketer and team selector Mark Waugh has named who thinks should bat in the top four for Australia this summer.

The Australian cricket team is looking towards a tough Test series against India this summer, following a series defeat to Pakistan in the UAE.

The Test series begins on the 6th of December at Adelaide Oval, back to the traditional match time following some successful day/night Tests.

Following the suspension to captain Steve Smith, David Warner and Cam Bancroft; the Australian side has struggled to find form with the bat.

Speaking to Jars and Louie on Triple M Adelaide, former Australian cricketer and selector Mark Waugh has outlined who the Aussies should select as the first four batsmen on the team sheet.

"I'm assuming (Usman) Khawaja is going to be fit," Waugh said, "So I'm selecting him at the three."

"The openers are probably going to be (Aaron) Finch and (Matthew) Henshaw, although the next few Shield matches are really going to tell the tale there.

"Then you've got Shaun Marsh at the four."

Waugh also suggested the scheduling of the matches over recent years has negatively effected the national teams in all three cricketing formats.
