Triple M's Paul Roos has hit back at suggestions Melbourne over-celebrated making finals for the first time in 12 years.

ROOS HITS BACK:

Roos joined Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie on Tuesday and was quizzed about the suggestion the Dees went a little overboard for breaking their finals drought.

He wasn't a fan of it.

"Yeah, that's garbage," he told Triple M Adelaide.

"If you can't celebrate in footy a 12-year drought, why are you playing?"

Roos made the comparison between the success of Joel Selwood and Nathan Jones, with Selwood playing 26 finals to Jones' zero since the former made his AFL debut.

"I'm sure Joel Selwood would say the same thing," he said.

"Gee, if Nathan Jones can't celebrate like he did after the game with Max Gawn who's been through two knee reconstructions, you just don't understand the game."
