Port Adelaide legend Warren Tredrea says that Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern has wanted out of the Crows for 12 months — despite signing a contract extension last August.

Speaking on the Rush Hour with Jars and Louie, Tredrea said a lot of pressure had been put on McGovern to sign on and the young Crow “didn’t handle it well”.

“He’s wanted out for 12 months… there’s an allegation that there was a lot of pressure applied to him to get his contract done,” Tredrea said.

“This is from one side.

“I’m not saying the Crows did it or whatever, but one side is while he was doing his rehab, a lot of key players at Adelaide were coming and he didn’t handle it well, just wanted it all to go away and just signed.

“Then after he signed, don’t know what happened but there’s been almost a bit of a change of heart.

“I don’t know if that’s fact, [but] that’s the story on one side.”
