Chris Judd says that it may be time to review Brownlow criteria in the wake of Patrick Dangerfield’s suspension.

Chatting with JB and Billy on Triple M’s Rush Hour, Judd said the fairest aspect may be out of date in today’s game.

“I actually think there is a bit of merit in it,” Judd said on Triple M.

“Gone are days where there’s a lot of really violent acts. Now if blokes do get suspended it’s usually accidental and they may need to cop a week or whatever,” he said.

“And if you do a really violent act in our game today - it’s always seen because there are camera everywhere - and you cop 5 or 6 weeks now and you’re not going to be able to win the medal missing 5 or 6 weeks anyway.”

Judd went onto to say that he thought Dangerfield would be in trouble as soon as he saw the tackle.

“I was at the game, when I saw it I thought it was a 50/50,” Judd said.

“I had a feeling he would get off because of who he is."

Judd went onto say that he understands the suspension when looking at the bigger picture.

“Paddy Dangerfield is not eligible to win the Brownlow this year and he’s going to miss a week of footy. But if that does change behaviour and fewer guys get head knocks… then I think that’s the cost the players have to pay.”
