Sam Mitchell has told the full story about how he got sent off for clotheslining a player who went on to play for Sydney and Brisbane in the TAC Cup grand final in 2000.

LISTEN TO MITCHELL:

Mitchell joined Triple M's Rush Hour with JB and Billy where Billy quizzed him on the incident in the grand final between Mitchell's Eastern Ranges and the Geelong Falcons.

The former Hawthorn champ revealed it was a clothesline that had him taken from the field.

"I got yellow carded, so it was right on quarter time," he told Triple M.

"I got sent off for the first 15 minutes of the second quarter.

"Matthew Stevic was the umpire, so we continued to go against each other for many, many years afterwards, the three of us.

"We ended up losing that game, so it wasn’t great. Thanks for bringing that up!"
