Triple M’s Nathan Brown has explained the clever tactic that Jordan Lewis has brought to Melbourne that has helped make their ball movement so successful.

BROWNY EXPLAINS:

The Dees have become the most potent team in the competition this season, scoring 103 points per game.

It’s helped them surge into a preliminary final with West Coast over in Perth, taking place on Saturday afternoon.

Brown joined The Mid-Week Rub on Triple M’s Rush Hour alongside Damian Barrett and revealed that Melbourne, as well as West Coast, have a sneaky tactic that helps them with their kicking around the ground.

It stems from both Jordan Lewis and Sam Mitchell, who both left Hawthorn and extended their careers at the two clubs.

“I’m putting together a theory about how well they move the ball, and they move the ball really quickly,” he said.

“I’ve been told recently in the last week that they’re doing a thing, and it’s called ‘face up’, and it’s come from Jordan Lewis coming from Hawthorn, and Hawthorn do it successfully.

“When they mark the footy, they turn around instantly and then they face what’s coming. That means the player on the mark's probably five metres back.

“West Coast do it well also under Sam Mitchell.”

Barrett said this was pretty interesting news.

“Have you dropped an exclusive here?” he asked.

“This is an exclusive!” Browny laughed.

“I brought it up, and then a person told me that yes, I am correct.”
