Triple M's Wayne Carey says the Western Bulldogs have to "get that grunt back" after their showing against GWS.

The Bulldogs slumped to an 81-point defeat against the Giants, which Duck described as "un-Bulldog-like".

LISTEN TO DUCK ON THE BULLDOGS:

“What you see is un-Bulldog-like, and how they won a premiership," he told Triple M's Rush Hour.

"They won a premiership from just being aggressive at the footy. You just thought when you played the Bulldogs you got a fierce contest."

Carey said the Bulldogs need to find what they brought in 2016, with the Eagles posing a challenge on Sunday.

"They’ve got some soul-searching to do. To be honest, they’ve got a real challenge this week. They’re back on their home deck (and) as I said, West Coast played some really good footy," he said.

"I just want to see from the Bulldogs - and I think this is why I fell in love with them - you just want to see what they gave us that year (they won the flag).

"The contest they gave, they never gave up and it didn’t matter. Even in that year, they had a lot of injuries and they were able to cover.

"They’ve got to get that grunt back."
