Triple M's Wayne Carey has named the two players he believes to be the best in the competition.

DUCK NAMES HIS TWO:

Aa few awards have been released for the best player of 2018, with Tom Mitchell and Brodie Grundy named players of the year by The Age and The Herald Sun and Max Gawn winning the AFLCA player of the year.

Duck went for none of those.

Asked by JB and Billy on Triple M's Rush Hour who he thought was top, Duck instead opted for last year's winner and runner up in the 2017 Brownlow Medal.

"I still think Paddy Dangerfield and Dustin Martin are the two best players in the competition," he said.

"What it does show you - and what's exciting, I think about the Brownlow Medal and even the MVP, to a degree - is that it's wide open.

"It is wide open, because if you can have that difference in all of those different awards, I think it goes to show you that we're going to have a very interesting few weeks ahead."
