On The Rush Hour with Luke, Libby and Dobbo, rugby league legend and Channel 9 sports broadcaster Wally Lewis addressed the long-standing rumour that he was once headhunted for Premier.

Legend has it that, in the 1980s, Queensland Premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen approached Lewis and asked him to become a member of the National Party, with the view that he could be a possible Premier.

And now Lewis has confirmed the rumours, telling Luke, Libby and Dobbo that there was "a bit of a reward" offered to him should he move to a different electorate where the National Party was struggling.

But he had more than a good reason to turn down the offer; listen to Lewis' chat with The Rush Hour to hear why there was "absolutely no chance" he would say yes.
