Much-loved Triple M Footy favourite Dennis Armfield has announced he will retire at the end of the season via a letter to Carlton members.

Armfield has clocked up 143 games for the Navy Blue's following his selection at pick 46 in the 2007 national draft.

"Coming over from Perth to one of the biggest footy clubs in the country at the end of 2007, I could never have imagined that I’d still be here 10 years later," Armfield wrote.

"I am certain that the club is in the best position it’s been during my time here, and I can’t wait to see all of our youngsters blossom into the stars I know they’ll be.”

As well as forging a career on the footy field, Armfield was acknowledged for the charity work he conducts outside the AFL world, awarded with the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award in 2015.

We, bust mostly JB, will miss you Dennis!
