Superstar Adelaide forward Eddie Betts will not play against Collingwood this week after being rushed to hospital with appendicitis on Sunday night.

Betts needed to be operated on to have his appendix removed but the club says the 30-year-old is recovering well.

Adelaide senior medical officer Dr Marc Cesana said Betts was in good spirits following the procedure.

“Eddie fell unwell on Sunday evening and was sent to hospital,” Dr Cesana said.

“He will not play this weekend as he recovers from surgery and the club will continue to monitor his health before a decision is made on his availability.”

Betts is having another great season with 41 goals to his credit, one behind teammate Taylor Walker (42).
