Jake Lever has officially requested a trade.

Adelaide released a statement on Tuesday afternoon confirming the in-demand defender had expressed his desire to join a Victorian club.

No individual club has been confirmed as of yet.

Adelaide head of football Brett Burton expressed his disappointment in the club statement.

“Our members and supporters should rest assured that we will make decisions that are in the best interests of our football club first and foremost,” he said.

Lever has been linked to a return to Victoria for much of the season.

The 21-year-old made the All-Australian squad of 40 in 2017, ranking first in the competition for intercept possessions per game.
