Essendon coach and West Coast iconĀ John Worsfold has put his arm up to coach Western Australia - if he was offered, of course.

State of Origin has been the talk of the AFL this week after another big showing from the NRL's showpiece game between Queensland and New South Wales.

67,000 fans voted on the AFL website about the return of the spectacle, with 92% on Thursday afternoon deciding they wanted to see it back.

Worsfold played 5 games for his state between 1988 and 1993; captaining the side in the final two years he was involved.

For his press conference this morning, he said that he would certainly accept the offer if it were to arise.

"If I was offered to coach the WA State of Origin team then I would take it," Worsfold said.

The AFL are yet to make any significant comment about the return of representative football, but in 2017 it is certainly gaining a lot of momentum.
