AFL legend Paul Roos believes Port Adelaide have more to prove in round one than any other team.

The Power have been one of the most talked-about clubs of the summer after their off-season recruiting spree which netted them Tom Rockliff, Jack Watts, Steven Motlop, Lindsay Thomas, Trent McKenzie and Jack Trengove.

Ken Hinkley’s side also lost an epic elimination final last year to West Coast in overtime after the final siren, and because of those reasons Roos told Triple M’s Rush Hour that Port Adelaide will want to “present a good product” against Fremantle on Saturday.

“I don’t think anyone’s under pressure but I think Port have to come out, play a really good brand of footy the way they have and probably clean up Freo who have been in really good (pre-season) form I might add,” Roos told The Midweek Rub

“It’s more (about) your product in round one. You want your fans to come, look at your product ... it’s around how you present yourself in round one and at least your fans are walking away thinking, ‘Actually, that was pretty good today’.”

The former Melbourne coach also said that the Demons would want to put their best foot forward on Sunday against Geelong, even if they don’t end up winning.

“I don’t think they have to win,” Roos said of Melbourne.

“I think Melbourne have to play a really good game against Geelong. Melbourne could play really well and Geelong could beat them, but that has to be a really good game for both sides.”
